Today I started a new responsible job when I became a Kummi (“a friend of the friends”) of Lastenklinikoiden Kummit (The Association of Friends of the University Children’s hospitals). From now on I will do my best to support also children’s hospitals and the little BackFighters in them!
I hope I can visit the hospitals soon and make new friends! We planned also to make some great content with few of the kids 🙂 It is going to be awesome!
So in the near future you will see me often with children and the Teemu teddy bear (named after Teemu Selänne – the first official friend of the friends and one of the founders!). I can imagine that we will hear so many touching stories and fight backs from the children.
The Association of Friends of the University Children’s hospitals is a charitable organization, founded in 1993, which supports the five Finnish university children’s hospitals, development and research, and attempts to improve the comfort of patients during their hospital stay. Over recent years, the association has placed significant attention on the mental health work of children and adolescents. During 2012, the association collected 1,7 million euros for the children’s hospitals and pediatric research. Throughout its course, the Association of Friends of the University Children’s hospitals has made donations of about 30 million euros.
