This is huge for me. I just got to interview my idol. The man, who’s like a Lion, Tanner Hall. For starters we must take a look at the crash, which was seen by pretty much the whole world, an after which Tanner fought back to the top.
As we are all on the same page, I must say that, I am definitely not in love with all of Tanner’s habits, myself. What are those habits? – I’m not gonna tell you! You find them out yourselves… and you decide whether or not, you’re fond of them.
But all in all, Tanner is a magnificent dude. I respect him, very much. Here’s the interview:
Tanner, you are a legend. You have faced some pretty severe injuries yourself. Which one was the most devastating one?
THE WORST INJURY I HAVE HAD WOULD BE THE ONE IN 2009 WHERE I BROKE BOTH TIBIA PLATEAUS AND TORE BOTH ACLS AT THE SAME TIME……..THAT WAS A BIG LEARNING EXPIERENCE FOR ME!
You have also faced many different kinds of rehab processes, what’s the most important tool in the process?
THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL IN THE REHAB PROCESS IS TO KEEP A STRONG MINDSET AND KEEP MOTIVATED EVERYDAY TO GET STRONGER MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY TO GET BACK TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE.
You were an important part of my first FightBack-episodes, how did you like the outcome?
I LOVED THE OUTCOME OF THE FIRST EPISODES! YOU ARE A TRUE FIGHTER PEKKA AND ITS PERFECT TO CALL YOUR ORGANIZATION FIGHT BACK CAUSE THATS WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT WHEN YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN.
What do you think about the FightBack? (The brand, the rehab-fight and inspiring others)
I THINK FIGHT BACK IS A GREAT MOVEMENT. REALLY PUTS THINGS INTO PERSPECTIVE OF HOW DANGEROUS WHAT WE ALL DO REALLY IS AND I THINK ITS IMPORTANT TO SHARE STORIES OF REDEMPTION TO PEOPLE WHO ARE DOWN AND OUT AND NEED SOME INSPIRATION AND FIGHT BACK DOES JUST THAT.
Does inspiration play big role in rehabilitation, why?
INSPIRATION TAKES A BIG ROLE INTO THE REHAB PROCESS CAUSE INSPIRATION CAN TAKE YOU TO THE NEXT LEVEL IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND TAKING INSPIRATION FROM OTHERS IS A GOOD WAY TO INSTILL MORE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF.
Where have you searched for the inspiration? Cause everyone knows that, you’re like the rehabilitation machine…
I LOOK FOR INSPIRATION THROUGH OTHER ATHLETES WHO HAVE SUFFERED MAJOR INJURIES AND HAVE OVERCOME CRAZY OBSTACLES TO COMEBACK STRONG. ALSO THROUGH MUSIC! POSITIVE VIBES MAKES FOR A POSITIVE LIFE!
You have been really supportive towards every project of mine, do you feel somehow responsible for everyone, cause, well, you’re a star… Or are you just a helpful person?
GIVE THANKS FOR THOSE GOOD WORDS PEKKA AND I THINK I JUST LIKE TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED. THE OLDER I GET THE MORE I WANNA GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT HAS BROUGHT ME EVERYTHING AND WANNA HELP THE PEOPLE WHO ARE OUT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
How did you find out of my crash?
I FOUND OUT ABOUT YA CRASH THROUGH RAFF RAGAZZONI AND WHEN I HEAR I WAS DEVASTED. TO SEE HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME IS AMAZING TO SAY THE LEAST THOUGH AND IM PROUD TO BE IN YOUR LIFE PEKKA!
You are a big part of the Inspired media, and Inspired music. You have inspired me, a lot. Is inspiring others a goal for you?
INSPIRING OTHERS IS A BIG GOAL NOT JUST FOR ME BUT THE WHOLE INSPIRED FAMILY! WE ARE OUT THERE EVERYDAY WE CAN PROVIDING STOKE AND LOVE FOR THE SPORT WE LOVE SO MUCH AND ITS SICK WHEN PEOPLE CAN SEE THAT AND THEY COME UP AND GIVE THANKS FOR WHAT WE ARE DOING.
I know you were filming rails in Finland for Teddybear Crisis, do you want to come back?
I THINK IT WOULD BE FUN TO COME BACK TO FINLAND FOR A JIB TRIP BUT THE OLDER I GET THE MORE POWDER I WANNA SKI AND SEE HOW FAR I CAN PUSH MYSELF IN THE BACKCOUNTRY!
Which were the bests and worsts?
BEST OF FINLAND WAS HOW MANY SPOTS THERE WERE TO FILM AT AND THE WORST WAS PROBABLY THE DARK DAYS WE ONLY HAD LIKE 5 HOURS OF SUNLIGHT EVERYDAY WAS MAD!
I’ve been writing my story ‘FightBook’, which is going to be published in about a year. Will you buy it, and if yes, what do you want to read in it?
YEA MAN IM GONNA BUY YA BOOK AND IM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING ABOUT THE HARDEST TIMES IN YOUR REHAB PROCESS AND THE TIMES WHERE YOU REALLY FELT LIKE YOU MADE BIG STRIDES IN YOUR COMEBACK AND THE FEELING IT BROUGHT YOU.
Helmet saved my life, I know you always wear one too, what’s your message, considering the usage of them?
WELL HELMETS ARE A VERY VITAL PART OF KEEPING YOUR BRAIN SAFE AND I THINK THE MORE RIDERS WHERE THEM THE MORE KIDS WILL SEE IT AND WANNA PROTECT THEIR BRAINS ASWELL BUT TO EACHS OWN I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO RIDE WITH OUT ONE AND ITS THEIR CHOICE.
When you are facing a tough task. What gives you the motivation, how, why?
WHAT GIVES ME MOTIVATION WHEN FACING A TOUGH TASK IS THE FEELING OF WHAT ITS GONNA FEEL LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH IT. THE FEELING OF ACCOMPLISHMENT IS VERY REWARDING AND I THINK THATS MY MAIN MOTIVATION!
What do you think is next big thing, in the progress of newschool-skiing?
TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I DONT KNOW WHAT THE NEXT BIG THING IS BUT I HOPE IT GOES BACK TO BIG MOUNTAIN RIDING .
Style or technicality?
STYLE OF COARSE.
You can ski everything, do you think that’s important? Should kids learn the basics, before jumping on twin-tips?
YES I THINK ITS VERY IMPORTANT FOR KIDS TO LEARN THE BASICS AND GET A STRONG SKIING STYLE BEFOR GOING BANANAS IN THE PARK ON TWIN TIPS. BEING GOOD AT EVERYTHING IS THE WAY TO GO CAUSE THE MORE WELL ROUNDED YOU ARE IN ALL ASPECTS MAKES EACH ASPECT JUS A LIL BIT EASIER. BIG UP YASELF PEKKA AND GIVE THANKS FOR THE CHANCE TO BE APART OF FIGHT BACK!!!
Here’s the trailer of my favorite ski film ever, Believe Tanner. I love the film.
P. S. Tanner will get a beanie, now, too… He chose black.
